VENEZUELA: Guaidó fights for survival as key vote descends into chaos

On 5 January, opposition deputy Luis Parra was elected president of Venezuela’s national assembly (AN), but only after opposition leader Juan Guaidó’s re-election bid was derailed by the national guard (GNB) seemingly denying him entry to the parliament building.
