* Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has published new figures that show that industrial production fell by 3.3% year-on-year in November 2019. The fall in production in November was driven by a 1.8% fall in activity in the manufacturing sub sector. This offset the increase in activity in other sectors such as pharmaceutical production (5.5%) and machinery production (50.6%). Moreover, the INE figures shows that if data from the refining activity at the state-owned oil firm Ancap is excluded from the manufacturing subset, the fall in activity in the sector increases to 4.7%.
