ARGENTINA: Fernández sets out stall

The government led by President Alberto Fernández continues to take action designed to reactivate the economy and “haul Argentina back on its feet”, to cite the economy minister Martín Guzmán, while delaying a renegotiation of its large debt to creditors. Guzmán insists it remains committed to honouring this debt, but he ruled out riding to the rescue of the provincial government of Buenos Aires, which could tip into default in early February unless bondholders agree to its proposal to ‘re-profile’ debt.
