BOLIVIA: Áñez making use of judicial action

After facing widespread criticism for the use of military force against protesters in November 2019, Jeanine Áñez’s interim government has come to recognise judicial action as its most valuable weapon for dealing with its opponents, most notably the Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) of former president Evo Morales (2006-2019), which still controls both houses of the legislative assembly and commands considerable popular support.
