The two main factions of Colombia's Norte del Valle cartel have lost their
top leaders - one captured, the other killed. The Colombian authorities are
claiming that this spells the end of the cartel, which in turn will impact upon
the drug-trafficking scene throughout the region. That the Colombian government
has been hitting hard and to considerable effect is undeniable. What remains to
be seen is whether this will not lead to another reconfiguration of the
Colombian drug supply industry, like after the disbanding of the Medellín and
