Guyana’s President David Granger addressed the nation on 9 March to appeal for calm one week on from general elections. A day earlier a teenager was shot dead during protests staged by the main opposition People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) amid heightened tensions over delayed results and accusations of electoral fraud.
