EL SALVADOR | Murder rate falls. In the first quarter of this year there were 795 homicides, a 10.7% fall from the 890 recorded in the comparable period of 2007. The figure comes from the consolidated statistics now run by the Instituto de Medicina Legal (IML), which incorporates data from the public prosecution service (FGR) and the Policí­a Nacional Civil (PNC). In the past, more often than not the homicide figures from these three agencies did not coincide.
