VENEZUELA: Complex crisis deepens humanitarian dangers

Opposition leader Juan Guaidó has described the challenge facing Venezuela as a ‘complex humanitarian emergency’, linked not simply to a single issue, but to an interlocking network of crises. Nicolás Maduro’s government has been slightly more cautious in its assessment, but it has nonetheless emphasised with increasing urgency the need to address the diverse dangers posed by the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
