*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released the latest figures for its monthly indicator of economic activity (Emae) which show a 2.2% fall in February 2020 compared with February 2019. The Emae, which is used as a preview of the GDP measure, also showed an accumulated 2% fall across the first two months of 2020 compared with the same period in 2019. Argentina’s economy contracted by 2.2% in 2019. The United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Eclac) is forecasting that Argentina’s GDP will contract by 6.5% this year.
