Infrastructure investments

In an interview published by construction sector magazine Obras Expansión on 23 March, the chairman of the Mexican chamber of the construction industry (CMIC), Eduardo Ramírez Leal, emphasised that it is imperative to establish long term infrastructure development goals, rather than six-year-long plans that coincide with a presidential term. Together with the confederation of industrial chambers (Concamin), one of the country’s largest umbrella business organisations, CMIC has long lobbied for this approach. According to Ramírez Leal, long-term planning in infrastructure –with projections of 30 years -- is essential to limit increases in projects’ costs and delays.
