MEXICO: Shortage of resources becomes more acute
The resources available to fight insecurity in Mexico are not endless. There have always been limits on how much resources governments can allocate to this priority area. With the Mexican authorities now focused on fighting the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the shortage of resources available for public security purposes is becoming more acute. The situation is undermining the security forces’ ability to combat criminality, exposing another inherent weakness that makes it difficult for Mexico to resolve its public security crisis.
