Introduction
The Coordinadora de las Organizaciones Indígenas de la Cuenca Amazónica (Coica), a transnational umbrella organisation representing indigenous communities from across the Amazon basin, has warned that the failure of national governments to protect indigenous peoples from the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic would be tantamount to “ethnocide”. We begin this June edition of Latin American Regional Report: Andean Group by exploring indigenous experiences of the pandemic across the Andean region, and the danger posed to these communities by the virus.
