Paraguay’s municipal elections kicked into the long grass

Paraguay’s electoral court (TSJE) has finally set a definitive date for the municipal elections that were due to be held this year but have been suspended as a result of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The elections have been pushed back by almost a full 12 months in an effort to ensure that they will not be impacted by the virus. But the long delay to the elections could result in the country’s political parties being in campaign mode for the rest of the year and for most of 2021.
