CHILE: Secessionist Mapuche radicals declare 'war'

A new spate of attacks by Mapuche activists in the southern Araucaní­a region led the government to announce that it would be applying the antiterrorist law against the perpetrators. This in turn prompted the Coordinadora Arauco-Malleco (CAM), the most radical of Mapuche organisations, to announce that it was seceding from Chile and declaring war on it. The government appears divided on how far it should downplay the magnitude of the threat represented by the CAM.
