CHILE: Mapuche militancy covers a broad spectrum

The government of President Michelle Bachelet is currently fending off claims that the police has been using excessive force against Mapuche radicals as well as resorting to torture and planting false evidence. At the same time, the Bachelet administration is manoeuvring to thwart the opposition's attempts to present itself as being more concerned with finding practical solutions to the Mapuche demands.
