The Hispanic vote in 2020

In some ways an early insight into the Latin American policies of a future US president comes from his or her approach to winning votes within the US Hispanic community. US Hispanics are electorally important. The Hispanic population of the US was estimated at 60.6m in 2019, up from 9.6m in 1970 and from 50.7m in 2010. Hispanics now represent 18% of the US population, up from 5% in 1970 and from 16% in 2010. Hispanics are the second-fastest growing ethnic group in the US after Asian Americans.
