MEXICO-US: Can the drugs trade be dislodged?

Enthusiasm over the prospects for President Felipe Calderón's campaign against the drug cartels, and consequently for the reduction of inter-cartel violence, is waning in both Mexico and the US. In Mexico, critics are arguing that the government's approach overlooks the extent to which the drugs trade has taken root in Mexico; studies and media reports have focused on the penetration of government agencies by the traffickers.
