In brief: Alvarado hails new US$80m investment in Costa Rica

* Costa Rica’s President Carlos Alvarado has hailed the announcement by US-Japanese firm MicroVention-Terumo of plans to invest US$80m in constructing a new plant in Alajuela province, creating 2,000 new jobs in various areas. A neuroendovascular medical device company that develops minimally invasive devices for treatment of vascular diseases in the brain, MicroVention-Terumo began operations in Costa Rica in 2012. It currently has two manufacturing plants and employs 1,700 people.
