* Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has released November data for the consumer price index (IPC), which shows that monthly inflation was negative, totalling -0.1% in November. Following two successive months of high monthly inflation, this negative November result was unexpected, and described as
“reassuring” by Chile’s economy minister,
Lucas Palacios. Accumulated inflation in the 11 months of 2020 now stands at 2.6%, and annual inflation in November 2020 totals 2.7% – slightly below the central bank’s (BCCh) 3% target.
