Alberto Fernández has signed four agreements with China linked to the rail sector and worth US$4.69bn. Of the total, 65% will go on rehabilitating and overhauling freight railway lines, while the rest will go on purchasing new parts for passenger trains. The agreements were signed by the Argentine government along with representatives from the Chinese firms China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC), China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), CRRC Corporation Limited, and Yutong. They are expected to create over 28,000 jobs across the country and benefit the provinces of Santa Fe, San Luis, Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Mendoza, Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán, Chaco, Corrientes, Río Negro, La Pampa and Neuquén.
