BRAZIL: Scramble to respond to devastation in Manaus

On 14 January, Brazil’s federal public prosecutor’s office (MPF), along with state and sector-specific prosecutors and public defenders, noted that the federal government is responsible for coordinating activities related to public health policies and has failed to adequately address the public health crisis currently devastating Manaus city, Amazonas state, where oxygen supplies are running out and coronavirus (Covid-19) patients are being transported to neighbouring states.
