MEXICO: Cienfuegos case stokes bilateral tensions
On 16 January Mexico’s foreign ministry published the detailed evidence assembled by US prosecutors against former defence minister General Salvador Cienfuegos (2012-2018), who was arrested in the US last October accused of drug trafficking and money laundering by the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) before being returned to Mexico just over a month later.
