Alberto Fernández has signed an agreement for the construction of 1,800 homes in the province of San Juan, on the border with Chile, which was hit on 19 January by a magnitude 6.4 earthquake. The 1,800 homes will be built through the Programa Casa Propria-Construir Futuro housing programme and involve a Ar$7.1bn (US$82.36m) contribution from the national government. President Fernández has signed a separate agreement with San Juan governor,
Sergio Uñac, to promote access to housing and an adequate living environment through projects amounting to Ar$186m. The agreements were reached during a visit by President Fernández to areas affected by the earthquake in San Juan; in some settlements, 40% of homes were destroyed by the earthquake.
