In brief: BCIE approves new funds for Costa Rica

* The Central American bank for economic integration (BCIE) has approved a US$500m loan for Costa Rica to improve its hospital network. According to a BCIE press release, the loan will be used to strengthen the infrastructure for three hospitals - Monseñor Sanabria de Puntarenas, Puntarenas province, and Max Peralta and William Allen Taylor de Turrialba, both in Cartago province which would provide more than 1,000 new beds. The press release noted that over the last eight years, the BCIE had approved two other loans to Costa Rica, worth a total of US$330m, aimed at modernising the country’s hospital network.
