In brief: Nicaragua’s trade deficit shrinks

* Nicaragua’s central bank (BCN) has released new figures which show that the country’s trade deficit for the first 11 months of 2020 totalled US$1.29bn, 15.2% less than that registered in the same period in 2019. Exports in the first 11 months of 2020 were worth US$2.6bn, up 7% on the same period in 2019, while imports totalled US$3.9bn, down 1.5% on 2019, mainly due to a drop in oil imports (-38.8%).
