In brief: Nicaragua’s public foreign debt continues to rise

* Nicaragua’s central bank (BCN) has published new figures which show that the country’s foreign public debt up to 30 November 2020 totalled US$6.62bn, up by US$44.7m on the previous month, and by US$341.1m compared with the total in December 2019 (US$6.28bn). Of the total foreign debt to November, 71.3% corresponds to debt with multilateral creditors (US$4.72bn); 27.9% with bilateral creditors (US$1.84bn); and 0.8% with private creditors (US$51.3m).
