In brief: Bolivia returns IMF loan

* Bolivia’s central bank (BCB) has announced it will return a US$346.7m loan plus interest to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which was agreed under the previous interim government led by Jeanine Añez (2019-2020). In a statement, the BCB said that the loan was irregular and onerous due to financial conditions and generated “millions” in economic costs to the Bolivian state. It said that it had returned US$351.5m to the IMF which included the loan as well as US$4.7m in interest and commission.
