In brief: Brazil’s oil & gas production dips in January

* Brazil’s national agency for oil, natural gas, and biofuels (ANP) has released its monthly bulletin on oil & natural gas production for January, according to which production has fallen compared with January 2020. National production averaged 2.87m barrels per day for oil, and 136m cubic metres per day of gas - a 9.3% and 1.7% year-on-year reduction, respectively. Combined, oil & gas production totalled 3.73m barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) in January. Production in the ‘pre-salt’ deepwater oil fields accounted for a combined 2.63m boed in January (down 2% compared with January 2020, but up 8.2% on December 2020). Fields operated by the state-owned oil company, Petrobras, accounted for 93.3% of January’s oil & gas production.
