BRAZIL: Gov’t downplays GDP contraction

On 3 March, Brazil’s economy ministry downplayed the country’s 4.1% GDP contraction in 2020 by noting that it represents a “reversal” of projections from international organisations, some of which had initially forecast a contraction as deep as 9% because of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
