EL SALVADOR: FMLN rally attack sparks political violence fears

A deadly attack at the end of January at a political rally for the opposition Frente Farabundo Martí para la Liberación Nacional (FMLN), ahead of El Salvador’s 28 February legislative and municipal elections, sparked major fears regarding an escalation of violence ahead of the vote. President Nayib Bukele’s detractors have been quick to blame his rhetoric for what looks like one of the worst political attacks in recent years.
