In brief: Argentina’s Solá begins official visit to Bolivia

* Argentina’s foreign minister, Felipe Solá, has begun an official visit to Bolivia, the aim of which is to “deepen the bilateral agenda” and “expand trade and investment between the two countries.” During his visit Solá will meet with Bolivia’s President Luis Arce and Vice President David Choquehuanca, as well as his Bolivian peer, Rogelio Mayta. Solá has said that the two countries will notably discuss the joint exploitation of lithium reserves, and Bolivia’s possible accession to full membership of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) regional trade bloc which currently comprises Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay, as well as Argentina.
