* Deputy minister for the development of special economic zones (ZEEs)
Juan Arias has presented a legislative bill on special economic zones before the national assembly’s economy, finance & economic development committee. The bill aims to attract national and international investment and activate the productive and export sectors. The bill is part of the 2021 national legislative agenda which comprises 35 legislative initiatives declared to be a priority for the nation. Arias said the ZEE bill was the fruit of nearly two years of labour by the ministry and over 30 months of work with management councils of the six ZEEs already decreed in the country - in the states of Cojedes, Falcón, Lara, Miranda and Táchira - as well as mayoralties, government institutions, business associations and academic experts.
