In brief: DR tourism minister hails sector’s recovery

* The Dominican Republic’s tourism minister, David Collado, has revealed that 263,867 tourists visited the country in March 2021, up 56% on February numbers and a 3.4% increase on March 2020. Collado is hailing this as a sign of the recovery of the sector which accounted for 10.3% of domestic GDP in 2019 on figures from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and was badly damaged by the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
