MEXICO: Report highlights failings in pandemic response

The deaths of hundreds of thousands of people could have been prevented last year if the Mexican government had better managed the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. This is the main conclusion of a new report from the University of California San Francisco’s Institute for Global Health. The findings of the report raise further concerns that the government led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador mishandled the pandemic badly [WR-21-13]. It could also intensify questions over whether the government acted negligently and can be held directly responsible for these deaths.
