BRAZIL: The virus is undermining the recovery

The Brazilian economy contracted by 4.1% last year, one of the better results in a continent ravaged by the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Recovery is expected this year, with the economy ministry predicting 3.2%-3.3% GDP growth. But political chaos and an uncontrolled second wave of the virus are skewing risks sharply to the downside.
