In brief: Paraguay, US and Taiwan identify renewable energy opportunities

* Paraguay’s ministry for trade & industry (MICI) and the US State Department have announced that the two countries are working together with Taiwan to identify private sector opportunities that will strengthen the renewable energy and electric vehicles sector in Paraguay. The announcement followed a virtual Partnership Opportunity Delegation which included business leaders from the US and Taiwan who met MICI’s director for export promotion, Estefanía Laterza. During the event, which also featured MICI minister Luis Castiglioni, executives from the US and Taiwan discussed Paraguay’s hydroelectric energy surplus and potential collaboration in green hydrogen, solar energy, smart electricity distribution and storage systems, and electric vehicle components. According to a US State Department press release this “initial virtual Partnership Opportunity Delegation will be followed with further engagement to build upon the key sector opportunities that were identified during the meeting”.
