MEXICO: López Obrador tests relations with Biden administration

Just hours before a virtual meeting with US Vice President Kamala Harris, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that his government had sent a formal note of protest to the US administration led by President Joe Biden, accusing it of interfering in Mexico’s domestic political affairs. The unusual move could strain ties with the Biden administration at a time when both governments are trying to reset diplomatic relations and establish a new working relationship to address key bilateral issues such as border security and irregular migration.
