In brief: Meat packer asks Argentina to resume beef exports

* Brazilian meat packer, Marfrig, has asked the Argentine government to resume beef exports, following President Alberto Fernández’s decision to suspend them for 30 days in a bid to stabilise the domestic price of beef. Marfrig’s CEO, Miguel Gularte, and owner, Marcos Molina, met with Argentina’s ambassador to Brazil, Daniel Scioli, to highlight the Brazilian company’s strong presence in Argentina and express their hope that the “temporary” ban on exports would soon be lifted. Scioli said he was in touch with Argentina’s agricultural ministry with the aim of giving “predictability” and “certainty” to the industry.
