HAITI: Kidnappings continue to surge

In May Centre d’Analyse et de Recherche Réseau International en Droits de l’Homme (CARDH), a local NGO, released a report warning that kidnappings in Haiti had increased by over 300% in April compared with the previous month. This again highlights the security crisis facing President Jovenel Moïse who a recent report by Harvard Law School’s International Human Rights Clinic (IHRC) and the Observatoire Haïtien des Crimes contre l’humanité (OHCCH), a local organisation, accuses of being complicit and even suggests could find himself liable for crimes against humanity.
