In brief: New solar park inaugurated in Dominican Republic
* Empresa Generadora de Electricidad Haina (EGE Haina), a mixed public-private company has inaugurated a new solar plant, Parque Solar Girasol, the Dominican Republic's biggest, at a ceremony attended by President Luis Abinader. President Abinader highlighted that the plant, which was constructed over a 14-month period, generating 820 jobs, would increase national solar power capacity by up to 50%. Located in Yaguate municipality, San Cristobál province, the plant has 268,200 photovoltaic panels and installed capacity of up to 120 megawatts (MW), and it is estimated that it will produce 240,000 MWh per year.
