VENEZUELA: Guaidó knocks regional elections as opposition pins hopes on ICC

On 16 June Venezuelan political opposition leader, Juan Guaidó, said that regional elections due to be held on 21 November “are not the solution” to the country’s political crisis, as other figures in the opposition expressed hope that the arrival of a new chief prosecutor at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague could hold de facto president, Nicolás Maduro, to account for “crimes against humanity”.
