* Honduras’s central bank (BCH) has released new figures which show the country’s GDP grew 6.2% in the first quarter of 2021 compared with the previous quarter, while year-on-year GDP growth was 1.3%. Sectors to register the highest growth in annual terms were electricity and water distribution (up 13%) and manufacturing industries (up 8.5%), while construction (down 9.3%) and agriculture, livestock & fishing (down 8.5%) registered the biggest contractions. Honduras’s GDP contracted 9% in 2020 as a result of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
