CHILE | Economy gathering speed. Chile’s economy grew by 2.6% in May compared with the previous month, the central bank reported on 1 July. The monthly economic activity indicator (Imacec) also showed that GDP expanded by as much as 18.1% on the same month a year earlier. This is the biggest such increase since the central bank introduced the Imacec in 1996. The largest sectoral growth was recorded by the manufacturing sector which expanded by 15.3% on May 2020.
