In brief: Brazil sees increase in industrial production

* Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released figures showing that the country’s industrial sector continues to recover from the economic impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, with industrial production in May increasing by 1.4% compared with the previous month and by 24% year-on-year. The strongest monthly growth was driven by production of semi-and non-durable consumer goods (3.6%) and capital goods (1.3%). Negative variation was seen in production of durable consumer goods (-2.4%) and intermediate goods (-0.6%).
