In brief: Argentina’s annual inflation ticks up

* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has published the latest figures for the consumer price index (IPC), reporting monthly inflation of 3.2% in June. This is a slight decrease on the 3.3% monthly inflation recorded in May, and an improvement on the 4.8% monthly inflation in March. However, in annual terms Argentina’s inflation rose to 50.2% in June, up from 48.8% a month earlier. The communications sector saw the largest monthly price increases (7%), followed by alcoholic drinks and tobacco (5.5%), clothing and shoes (3.5%) and transport (3.3%).
