In brief: Pension changes in Peru

* A new law has been promulgated in Peru which enables those aged 65 and over but who have contributed to the national pension system (SNP) less than the minimum of 20 years required to qualify for a retirement pension, to receive a “special proportional pension” according to the state news agency Andina. According to the new law, those aged 65 years and over and who have contributed at least ten years to the SNP can draw a monthly pension of PEN$250 (US$63). Those aged 65 and over who contributed to the SNP for at least 15 years will be able to claim PEN$350.
