BRAZIL: An embattled Bolsonaro seeks to cover his back

With tumbling approval ratings and an increasingly weak political position, Brazils President Jair Bolsonaro is taking steps to shore up his support in congress by strengthening the governments ties with the centrão, the notoriously volatile and venal parliamentary bloc which began propping up the Bolsonaro administration last year. This has notably involved a small cabinet reshuffle, which strengthens the centrão to the detriment of both the economy minister, Paulo Guedes, and the military faction in government.
