In brief: Uruguay’s inflation still outside of target range

* Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has released the latest figures for the consumer price index (IPC), which show that monthly inflation totalled 0.52% in July. This is lower than predicted by private sector analysts surveyed by the central bank (BCU), who had forecast on average 0.64% inflation for July. Annual inflation now stands at 7.30% in the 12 months to July, down from 7.33% in June but still outside of the official target range of 3%-7%. According to the INE, the main drivers of monthly inflation in July were transport (0.11%), food and non-alcoholic drinks (0.09%), and goods and services (0.09%).
