ARGENTINA-REGION: Paraná River drought affects millions

The Paraná River, which has its source in Brazil, runs through Paraguay, and flows into the Atlantic Ocean in Argentina, is part of the second largest river system in South America and sustains the lives and livelihoods of millions as a source of drinking water, electricity, and trade routes, amongst other things. It is currently suffering from its worst drought in almost eight decades, amid warnings that the river’s water levels will continue to diminish over the coming months.
