In brief: Experts slightly lower Mexico’s growth forecast

* Private sector economists consulted by Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) have lowered their forecast for Mexico’s GDP growth in 2021 to 5.99%. This growth estimate is lower than that of July, when the experts predicted an increase of 6.06%. It is also less than Banxico’s own latest GDP forecast of 6.2% growth. The surveyed economists also raised their forecasts for inflation, expecting this to close 2021 at 6.06%, slightly up from 5.94% in their January estimate and well above Banxico’s 3% +/-1 inflation target range for 2021.
